Mother Appeals for Assistance after House Fire
A mother of nine is appealing to the public for help after her house in Belama in Belize City was destroyed by fire on Thursday night. Kescha Miller told News Five she lost everything and needs help. She claims the fire was an intimidation tactic to get her to drop a legal case.

“It happened last night after seven. I get the news this morning around eight-thirty and when I gone dah Belama Police Station deh tell me it was after seven it burned down.”

“Talk to me about what you lost here?”
Kescha Miller
“I lost everything – totally everything. I don’t own anything just the lee bit of clothes I have at my aunt where I am staying right now. I know dah my own people deh do it. They send the message already that is what they do to it. So I feel like they happy now that they get it burned down.”

“You are certain that they set this fire?”
Kescha Miller
“I know dah my family deh do it. I certain deh do it. I nuh have beef with nobody.”

“So you’ve ruled out electrical or other things?”
Kescha Miller
“Nothing. I have normal light I nuh the thief light from lamppost to say that caused the fire. I know that my people do this to me.”

“And this kind of loss for you – ?”
Kescha Miller
“That’s the thing – nine kids I have living here and I feared for my baby life that is why I stayed away until I am done dealing with the case.”

“I imagine you need the public’s assistance to try to get things started once again?”
Kescha Miller
“I really do because I need back my house and I can’t deh where I deh forever. I have nine kids so any way they can help me I would appreciate it.”
