Family Anxious About Missing Fisherman Jarrid Usher

Jarrid Usher

Another fisherman is missing at sea. On July fifth, Jarrid Usher went out in his skiff named “Blessed Youth,” but never returned.  His family was not too concerned at first since these fishing trips can sometimes last for over a week. But it has been seventeen days now and his father, Raymond Usher, told the press this afternoon that he is very anxious.

“It was since that period, from the fifth of July he went out. We had some communication during that period, for about two or three days after. But, thereafter we lost communication with him. It was sometime after that we became concerned, a week or so. He said that he would be out there making things happen so don’t be troubled if I don’t see him within a week. And, by that token we took it for granted. Lets ride on another week and see if something might be going up for him. But, the time run up and we became a bit more concerned.  He decided to go on his own, buy his own boat and thing. It was at this juncture that he decided to venture into the full lobster season.”

“Did Mr. Usher say who he was going out to sea with?”

“Unfortunately, on that day I don’t know why I became so complacent. But, that at that point I couldn’t say whether he had somebody on the boat at the Southern Foreshore, because I was just standing up in front of the Magistrate court when he was just talking to me and said, “Dad, I just come to let you know that I am moving now, I am going, I hope the funeral goes very well.” Because, like I said it was the funeral for my dad and my stepmother.  I am totally immersed with anxiousness as to what is happening, what could have happened, and where he is that could delay him from coming back.   We don’t know what happened out there, because so many things is happening these days. It behooves me to know what could happen out there. I am appealing to anybody who have might have seen that boat and know who he is will be able to reach out and communicate with us and even with those in authority.”

Authorities have launched a search for Jarrid. If you have any information that may aid in the search, the family can be reached at 604-9840.
