“Our Circle” Responds to San Pedro Stabbing
The Board of Directors of the organization “Our Circle” has issued a statement after their managing director, Derricia Castillo Salazar, was charged with stabbing a woman in the face in San Pedro last weekend. Our Circle’s President, Danae Fairweather, expressed disappointment that this occurred during Pride Island Getaway, an initiative spearheaded by Our Circle during Pride Week. She says they have reached out to the victim, Shanira Perez, and do not want what occurred to “reflect the efforts and progress the organization has made to ensured lived and legal equity for LGBT formed families.” Derricia Castillo Salazar has been granted a leave of absence. She was charged with wounding and granted bail on Monday.
