Fire Destroys Home of Woman Charged for Death of Albert Broaster

There was a fire on Tuesday night on the corner of George Frazer Street and Iguana Saint Extension in Belize City. The home of Lisa Lauriano went up in a blaze.  And, if that name sounds familiar, that is because Lauriano was in police custody earlier this week for the stabbing death of her ex-common law husband Albert Broaster. We spoke to a fire official today who says Lauriano’s home was intentionally set on fire.

“When we arrived on that location we observed what was an elevated, ten by ten structure, fully engulfed. The team got into operation extinguishing this fire. We did an investigation which we could have then determined the type of structure that actually was there. It was a wooden ply wood, five feet off the ground. It is a one room apartment, owner being Miss Lisa Lauriano of the said address. Miss Lauriano, as we were made to understand, wasn’t at home at the time as other matters prevented her from being there. She had only just left the establishment only an hour or two prior to. That was when the building was set on fire.  Electrical flaw was definitely ruled out.  What we have gathered, now this is more towards a criminal matter, but of course the fire department responded. We have gathered enough information to conclude that this building was intentionally set by person or persons unknown, based on a previous altercation between those individuals and Miss Lauriano.”
