U.D.P. Wants Contract Rescinded: G.O.B. says Payments Were Made to Avoid License Lapse
Despite the disclosure on the bidding process and Smart winning with the lowest bid, the U.D.P. is demanding that government rescind the contract and for Smart to issue a refund.
Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.
“I am told that the contract is still not yet signed, although a payment, I think someone sent me the actual check number which I can share later on, for the some of that three-point three, three-point four million dollars, seemingly favorite figure of the P.U.P. Administration to give away, almost three point four million dollars to Smart Speed Net. This speaks to great irregularity on the part of the government.”
News Five reached out to government sources this evening, who confirmed that the Microsoft contract between Smart and the government is yet to be signed. However, the payments were made prior to signing of the contract to avoid the Microsoft license expiring. We are told that there was no grace period on the license after it lapsed.
