Oscar Arnold, Belizean Ambassador to Mexico
“We are aware that there was an incident in Cancun last night that resulted in two individuals being captured, two individuals being shot and one other individual that was also shot and died at the scene. For that incident, we have not received anything official. The police in Cancun are saying that they believe the person to be a Belizean but they have not been able to confirm that. We have not been able to confirm that as well. We have not been contacted by any family member from Belize stating that they believe that their family member was killed in that incident. We are following the information closely; we are in contact with the authorities in that municipality and as soon as we have something official, then we will be able to share it with obviously first the family back home and then make an official statement as to what transpired in that incident.”
