Robbery at Smoothie Shop in San Ignacio

It was a relatively quiet weekend as there were no shooting incidents recorded over the last few days, but there were a number of property crimes in the west. On Saturday morning, “Love Town” smoothie shop on Savannah Street in San Ignacio Town was targeted by armed robbers.  The thieves forced the owner to the floor before stealing from the cash register an undisclosed amount of money and two cell phones. Quick response from the police has led to the detention of the suspects.

“Zheng Za reported that he was at his business establishment when two male persons entered with firearms. They held him up and proceeded to steal an amount of cash and an iPhone. There after the male persons left from the area. Police responded to the report, detained one suspect and recovered the cellular phone. The person is now in custody pending investigation into this matter.”

“Sir is it believed that it may have been an inside job?”

“We are not sure at this time. The persons came there and held up the proprietor with firearms; that’s the information that we have at this time.”

“We know that it was captured on surveillance footage that has been circulated online. Is police using that to help identify the second suspect?”

“Yes, we are looking at that footage in order to try and establish who this other suspect is.”
