While on Open Your Eyes, Prime Minister Briceño also commented on the difficult decision to cut nurses pay alongside other public officers.

“Now we have a better understanding of how COVID operates now, we could work fairly safely. Most of them have already gotten vaccinated. But, you could imagine April, May, June, July august, those dark months when we did not know how COVID operates, how it affects you. You only know it is killing you and it is spreading quickly. It took a lot of guts, determination, love for our community and love for our country to do that, and no money can pay that. When we had to that very though decision to cut salaries, honestly we tried to see how we could keep them out of what we are doing. But we were advised legally we can’t do that, because if we do that we will be taken to court and say it is unjust treatment. So, I couldn’t. So, with great pain in our heart, we had to do it.”
