Lloyd Myvett was awaiting good news – set in the hopes that today, he would be able to enroll in the Department of Youth Services’ apprenticeship program. But his hopes were dashed when sometime around eight on Monday night, a gunman went prowling in his neighbourhood and opened fire at an unsuspecting Myvett and his neighbour and friend, nine-year-old Jamir McKoy. Pauline Myvett told News Five that her mother brought her the bad news half hour before curfew time.

“He usually, frequently goes there to hang out with the little nine year-old’s father and they were supposed to go this morning by Cool Shade to look for a job to pick oranges until when he gets a call from the apprenticeship program that he was enrolling in. He’s a neighbour and close friend of ours. He was a close friend to my little brother. He used to always come here, hail my brother. They would play together and then the little boy would go home, but yesterday he came for my brother.”
Myvett’s little friend, Jamir Mckoy, who was struck in the abdomen, reportedly underwent a three-hour-long surgery and was listed in a stable condition this evening. His family has declined talking to the media. Marion Ali for News Five.
