Ministers of Foreign Affairs from Belize & Guatemala at O.A.S.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belize and Guatemala met on Wednesday with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, in Washington DC. Minister Eamon Courtenay and Minister Pedro Brolo Vila gave an overview of the work taking place at the O.A.S. office in the Adjacency Zone. According to press release on the O.A.S. website, the Secretary General was invited to quote “develop and recommend specific measures, mechanisms or processes aimed at preventing situations likely to create tensions in the Adjacency Zone.” End quote. Both sides reiterated their commitment to the Framework Agreement for Negotiations and Confidence Building Measures signed in September of 2005.
