Deputy P.M. leads delegation to Taiwan

The Deputy Prime Minister, Johnny BriceƱo is representing Belize at a Central American leaders summit in Taipei, Taiwan. The delegation, which includes Minister of Works Henry Canton, Ambassador Gonzalo Quinto, Permanent Secretary David Gibson, Senator Eamon Courtenay, and Mike Bejos of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived on September fifth. The Deputy Prime Minister and Senator Courtenay met with the Taiwan Banking Association prior to the actual summit on the sixth. The one-day meeting with President Dr. Lee Tieng Hui explored the investment climate, trade and tourism, environmental protection and economic integration in Central America and the Dominican Republic. On September seventh the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works will attend a trade and investment seminar in the southern region of Taiwan. In January Prime Minister Vicent Siew and his wife visited Belize as part of their Central American tour. Belize’s Prime Minister Said Musa visited Taiwan in October of last year.
