Handcuffed thief escapes police custody

Grocery stores are robbed on a regular basis, but the investigation of a robbery in Cayo proved to be more interesting than the crime itself. Thirty-three year old Wen Fen Zhui, the proprietor for First Stop Grocery Store and restaurant in Santa Elena Town, was the victim of the robbery. Zhui reported to the cops that early in the morning of March third, a male person entered to purchase cigarettes, but instead of taking out cash, he pulled out a gun and demanded money. The robber then hopped over the counter and took two hundred dollars cash plus phone cards worth two hundred dollars. But the culprit’s escape was short lived and speedy police work resulted in the arrest of twenty-one year old Daniel Sampson of the Benguche Area, Dangriga Town. On Sampson’s body, the officers found cash and phone cards allegedly taken during the robbery. But Sampson proved to be more Houdini than thief. While in police custody and also constrained by handcuffs, Sampson still managed a second escape. So if you spot a man wearing handcuffs please report him to the police.
