Toilet paper smuggled into Belize
We often hear of liquor or foodstuff being smuggled across the borders, but toilet paper? On Tuesday customs officials at the Santa Elena border in Corozal intercepted a truck carrying one thousand bails of Mexican toilet paper. It seems duty had only been paid on half of the cargo. Police say the driver faces charges of evading customs duties. In other news from Corozal police have charged three men accused of a robbery in Concepcion Village last week. Juan Castellanos and Oscar Alfonso Tun were charged with robbery while German Rodriguez Miranda has been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. Balmore Figueroa is still being processed. The four men were captured through the assistance of area residents.
