Elsworth Hendy Shot in the Face
Less than an hour after the drive-by shooting, shots rang out once again in Belize City and in the same vicinity. Police are reporting that just around six-thirty p.m., two persons on a motorcycle rode past Elsworth Hendy and a female friend who were on bicycles at the junction of Faber’s Road and the George Price Highway. The men on the motorcycle stopped a short distance away, and fired shots in their direction. Reports are that a bullet caught Hendy in the face and he is admitted in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. ASP Fitzroy Yearwood shared details.

“Police responded to a shooting in upper Vernon Street where they met with Elsworth Hendy, a upholstery worker of a Belize City address who was rushed to the K.H.M.H. with a single gunshot wound to the body. Our initial investigation so far has unravelled that around 6:40 p.m., he was riding on separate bicycle with a female friend from a direction not too far from where the shooting occurred. And two persons on a motorcycle overtook them on the street, stopped a few feet from them while the passenger fired a single gunshot causing his injury. We have officers canvassing that area trying to find out what could have been the motive behind that shooting and hopefully we could get some answers to try to ascertain who are the suspects in that shooting.”
