Two More Belizeans Killed in Mexico?
Police are waiting for further confirmation of reports that two Belizeans have been killed in Chetumal, Mexico. Over the weekend, information surfaced that the men – one from San Pedro and the other from Corozal Town – had travelled to neighbouring Mexico, but were robbed and executed. Their names will not be disclosed at this time as authorities in Mexico are still trying to confirm their identities. Today, ComPol Chester Williams told the media that he is aware of the incident and is waiting for that official statement.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have received rumours and I have to say rumours because we have not gotten anything official. That there may have been two Belizeans who went over to Chetumal to sell some drugs and apparently the cartels in Chetumal may have murdered them and put them in a barrel. That is rumours that we are getting. At this time, we cannot confirm or deny the information, but that is just what we are getting.”

“Sir do you know the identities?”
Chester Williams
“I am not going to reveal the names as yet because we don’t know if it is true. Today we will liaise with our Mexican counterparts as well as through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see if in fact it is so and if we can get some official words from Mexico, then we will go through the process of informing the family members and then the public.”
