Thieves Steal Stove from James Garbutt Primary School
There was a burglary on Thursday night during which thieves gained entry into James Garbutt Primary School on Albert Street West. The lock on the front door of the upper building was broken and the thieves made off with several kitchen appliances, including a blender and a stove. While police were able to recover the stove, the culprits made good their escape. This morning, News Five spoke with Principal Maren Moralez.

“Last night I received a phone call from the office about the burglary that is ongoing. At the same time, she called me and informed me about the police being at the school, and if I can come or send someone over. So I called one of my teachers and she came, and the building was broken into the office here, and they discovered the items that were lost.”

“Give us an idea of what was taken and perhaps the extent of the damages to the structure itself when they broke in.”
Maren Moralez
“The structure, just the door, has some minor damage, I believe. They used a burglar bar, I believe, to pry open the door and saw the burglar bar. They stole a new brand stove, glass top range that we received from the Ministry of Education during the U.D.P. administration, also a blender, a cake mixer, and a juicer, an electrical juicer. So, those were that main items that we saw missing and a few little stuff. What was found was the stove. The police saw the burglars on the street behind the school. The stove was in the middle of the street and the guys ran away.”
