Ecumenical rally for murder victims
It began with a candlelight vigil to try and mobilize the community against the murders and abuse of Belize City children. Now the effort continues with a National Ecumenical Rally to highlight the fact that child abuse is a countrywide concern. On August 15th churches from all denominations, from every corner of Belize are invited to the Pound Yard Bridge in Belize City for presentations and songs in an event called “Light the Night with Prayers”. The rally begins at five p.m. and is being organized by the National Committee for Families and Children, the National Organization for the Prevention of Child Abuse, NOPCA, as well as several other non-governmental organizations and religious denominations. Families in Belize City and the districts are encouraged to come out and show their support.
