People voice opinions on turning in drugs to police

Story Picture
Over the weekend a citizen turned in 15 packets of cocaine found bundled together floating near Caye Caulker. Police estimated the value of the drugs at around 600,000 dollars. Although the man who found the wet drop didn’t hesitate to turn it over to police, News Five wondered how many of you would have done the same thing?

“For you to be sitting right on your verandah and a whole bale a thing come there, I mean to say hell, that is the luck that I am praying for.”

“I would sell off all and the money that I would have gotten from it, I would have taken it and put it to good use and help the people in the community cause a lot of people need help.”

Citizen #3

“I’d carry it into the police.”

Citizen #4

“I prefer struggle and do the best I could to live honestly other than fool with that kind of problem.”

Citizen #5

“Good, get more out of Belize.”

Citizen #6

“That’s why I work for my children. Hard. I don’t sell drugs no time.”

Citizen #7

“I won’t even have a wish because I will not find that.”

Citizen #8

“I think I would take it and sell it.”

Q: “And what you would do with the money?”

Citizen #8

“What I would do with the money…. well I would buy a house, buy a car, I don’t know what I would do with it.”

Citizen #9

“I wouldn’t be throwing it away for them to pick it up and sell it again.”

Citizen #10

“Turn it into the law.”

Q: “You wouldn’t think about selling it?”

Citizen #10

“No, cause it against the law.”

Q: “And what would you do with it?”

Citizen #11

“Me? I’d sell it.”

Q: “And what would you do with the money?”

Citizen #11

“The same thing that the big men are doing… build house and lot and treasury and those things. That’s easy money.”
