Orange Walk family says neighbors tried to rape daughter

About one month ago, an Orange Walk family told police that two young men had cut through their pimento house in an attempt to rape their 12 year old daughter. The parents heard the commotion and the two men ran from the house, one of them leaving his pants behind. The parents immediately reported the incident and submitted the pants as evidence to the Orange Walk Police. Two men were brought up on charges of attempted rape but have since been released on bail in the amount of 200 dollars each. Sources tell News Five the family’s problems are far from over however. About two weeks ago, the men confronted the girl’s father and he retaliated with a machete. The father was charged with assault and fined 1,100 dollars in damages. Because the child’s alleged attackers are neighbors, the girl has gone to live with a relative, but this weekend the two men reportedly approached her mother and told her they would not rest until they quote “finished the job”. The family and other neighbors are circulating a petition asking the police to take action against the two men.
