Union Calls for Full Account of COP26 Costs
While the Office of the Prime Minister has issued its statement on the delegation heading to COP26 and the funding agencies involved, today the Public Service Union expressed its disapproval over the size of the delegation and wants cost details. The PSU says that given the current economic crisis and austerity measures they are “appalled” that the Prime Minister is taking such a large delegation and recommending that all support staff attend virtually instead. They want GOB to publish the total cost incurred, inclusive of airfare, hotel accommodations and per diem. They also demand a breakdown of the total funding by the United Nations Development Program, the REDD+ Project, the Biodiversity Finance Initiative, the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Protected Areas Conservation Trust, and the EnGenDer Project.
