Girl reports being given sedative then raped

Several weeks ago the Ministry of National Security issued an alert about date rape drugs which could be administered in beverages. However, a young woman has reported to police that she believes she was drugged by something in a piece of candy. The 16-year-old girl from Toledo told the Reporter Newspaper that on the 29th of June, her employer in Belize City gave her a sweet and she began to feel dizzy. She alleges that he pushed her onto the bed and she was unable to fight back and passed out. She says when she came to she was no longer wearing her underwear and that her legs and private parts hurt. She reported the matter to police several days later after she says her employer tried to have sex with her again. Police have confirmed that they young woman did indeed make a report, but no arrests have been made.
