Ministry of Education Awards Scholarships to Aspiring Nurses
A cohort of thirty nursing students at various levels of academic learning was awarded scholarships by the Ministries of Education and Health and Wellness today, for practical and bachelors degrees courses. This morning at the Biltmore, Ministers Francis Fonseca and Michel Chebat were on hand to recognize the scholarship recipients who come from all six districts.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness
“There are two scholarships we are giving, the bachelors is a four-year program, as far as I understand it, and the practical nursing is a two-year program. They are full scholarships so these will go on and we are hoping that we can, every year, do the practical nursing. That is new, the practical one has been ongoing but we are hoping that the practical nursing scholarships, we’ll be able to do it every year.”

“Is there any sort of commitment that is implemented in the scholarship itself, because as you pointed out, the incentives for nursing in other countries are very attractive?”
Michel Chebat
“Well this is the educational stage, I guess once the nurses come out we need to look wholesome at what their terms and conditions of services are across the board and we certainly need to improve those.”
