GG Froyla T’zalam Installed as Patron of Scout Association
Today at the Scouts Association of Belize headquarters in Belize City, Governor General Froyla T’zalam was installed as the patron of the organization following the retirement of former G.G. Sir Colville Young. Her first act was to sign off on the appointment of Doctor Erasmo Franklin as the interim Chief Scout. That post was left vacant with the passing of Major Eric Neal in September.

“I cannot stress how important it is, but it’s something that without a patron it’s like we don’t have a guide, we don’t have a mentor. The patron is the one that looks down at our children, our scouts and makes sure that the movement is moving in the right direction. Yes, we have our committees, we have our standing committees, but the patron is the one that looks at us and says this is going good, this is not going good; you need financing for this, I can help you with this. So that’s the major importance of our patron in scouts. For the interim chief scout, what will happen right now is the interim only holds a seat for a year while we have to find a chief scout that will suit the capacities and the needs that we have and that will be done in consultation with the patron now since she is our patron. So it will be a back and forth between the patron and our assemblies as to who’s gonna be the next chief scout of the Scout Association of Belize.”
