Belmopan Artists Volunteering Their Time to Beautiful Belmopan
A group of artists from Belmopan and surrounding areas have teamed up to share their talent with the community voluntarily.
Raquel Rodriguez, Artist
“The artists in Belmopan and I have formed a little group. We are under Raquel Art for now. And we work for the community, we are very active. We are working on a project right now for the Police Trading School, and this is artist Tom Sharpe, Reneese Bennett, Orlando Nah, and Caroline Carr. Also working with students with Raquel Art School in Belmopan and volunteers. And over the process of this project, we have also had the wonderful help and assistance from the recruits in the school. Over the weekend, we had assistance even working hand in hand with the commander himself, that’s Mr. Moria. And we were working along with different instructors. That was a great experience for the artist, to be working hand in hand, artists and police. It was wonderful.”

“This is just one of the projects, I understand. How does it work as you go in improving the aesthetics?”
Raquel Rodriguez
“So we are working on helping Belmopan, like you said, beautifying Belmopan. And how this works, how do I find money is that I am learning as I go. And my first project was the stadium wall and that project was under Mayor Sharon Palacio and Minister Francis Fonseca. Under that project, I learned so much and I always had the guidance of the mayor. I run to her to learn how to make proposals, and where to go to find the funding. So that is how we been getting funding for these projects.”
