Districts to join Carnival
This year’s carnival should be bigger than ever with bands from several districts joining in this year. News Five spoke with public relations officer for Carnival Daedra Isaacs about the new additions.
Daedra Issacs, Public Relations Officer
“There is a renewed focus on the entire Carnival road march and its participation from the bands we have bands coming in from Orange Walk Stann Creek Cayo San Pedro and P.G. so the focus is to try to get the entire country involved in carnival since the entire country already sees it as this spectacular event worth going out on the road to look at. We are trying to get representation from all the districts in addition we have some new junior bands we have two from Belize from Nova Scotia band and one by the name of Catastrophic and one coming out of Cayo.”
The calendar of activities for this year’s carnival includes Little Miss Carnival, a masquerade ball, the annual Lotto pick, the King and Queen Competition, a mass camp. The season culminates in the Road March on September 11th. To organize all these events, the Carnival Association has a new steering committee headed by Greg Vernon. The Advisory Board is composed of Director Beverly Smith Lopez and Herbert Haylock and Harry Pilgrim.
