Lotto winner claims prize
Seven years ago Cesar Augusto Maradiaga of Honduras moved to Belize with the hope of making a better life for himself. Today that dream became a reality when the fifty year old man walked into the new Lotto office on Bishop Street to claim his grand prize of twenty seven thousand, five hundred dollars. Maradiaga, who has been buying Lotto tickets since 1996, says he did not use magic or any special method to pick the wining numbers but on Saturday he bought six tickets and picked a lot of numbers.

“I don’t know. I just think and put the numbers because
I put a lot of numbers, you know. Maybe it is luck.”
Q: “What do you plan to do with the money?”
Cesar Augusto Maradiaga
“I think buy some dump trucks and work here in Belize.”
The winning numbers were 05, 14, 20, 29 and 30. Maradiaga takes home twenty three thousand, three hundred and seventy five dollars after the government takes its fifteen percent cut in taxes. Meanwhile the Tropical Gaming Company reminds the public to check tickets that were bought on June twelfth since no one has claimed the grand prize of seventy seven thousand, five hundred dollars. The winning numbers for that draw are 02, 06, 14, 20 and 31.
