Music teacher raising funds for training
Although the Children’s Festival of Arts may be over, twinkling little music stars are still performing, not for gold this time but to help their teacher. Fransin Murillo, who privately teaches music, will be holding a concert to raise money to attend a level one course at the Canada Kingston Conservatory. News Five caught up with her and her young students at their open air rehearsal at the B.T.L. Park on Wednesday.
Fransin Murillo, Music Teacher
“The course consists of percussion, singing and rhythm which applies to the Ministry of Education which has a draft out. They have a draft to have music as a part of the curriculum for Infant 1, Infant 2 and Standard 1.
I teach the violin; I teach the ukulele and the recorder. The children at the concert will be playing the violin, recorder and ukulele and we will be having a few guests: the flute, the saxophone and a piano student from Ms. Gina Scott’s Academy.”
