P.A.C.T Renews Management of B.N.C.F Endowment and Operational Funds

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust has renewed its agreement with the Belize Nature Conservation Foundation for the management of the endowment and operational Funds of the B.N.C.F. According to a release from P.A.C.T., the Belize Nature Conservation Foundation is an independently governed, private foundation, created through Belize’s first Debt for Nature Swap back in 2001 between the Governments of Belize and the United States. The B.N.C.F. finances a small grants program for land protected areas. Since the start of the Foundation’s operations in 2007, P.A.C.T has administered an average of three million dollars annually. Partnerships with various non-governmental agencies and civil society organizations allows international foundations and financing institutions to keep track of the management of funds and projects, while serving as a source of additional income for P.A.C.T. in the form of service fees. The renewal of the agreement was signed in late December.
