Two stabbed at disco
Violence erupted at a nightclub in Orange Walk early Sunday morning when a man and his girlfriend were stabbed and guests stampeded towards the doors, injuring two others. Orange Walk police say around three a.m. a fifteen year old girl was dancing with her boyfriend, twenty-three year old Marlon Henderson at Mi Amor Nite Club when both were stabbed by an unidentified person. Panicked guests tried to flee the scene and Fabian Copo and his wife Seleni, both of whom were standing near the door, were knocked to the ground. Copo was knocked unconscious and sustained head injuries, while Seleni got a cut to the forehead. All four injured people were rushed to the Orange Walk Hospital. After they failed to regain consciousness Henderson and Copo, were transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. No one has been detained and police investigations continue. Miguel Urbina, the manager of Mi Amor says although no one knows who did the stabbing, there was a fight between two women just before the incident and they were being escorted outside when the violence broke out. He believes the weapon was brought into the club by a woman since all the men have to be checked by a metal detector and are patted down by security. Urbina says Mi Amor staff members are working closely with police and will be heightening security at the club.
