St. Joseph’s gets funds to finish school
The Students of St. Joseph’s Primary School assembled this morning to hear some good news from the Minister of National Security who is also the area representative for the Freetown division. Jorge Espat handed over ninety thousand dollars to complete the school’s expansion project, which will provide additional classrooms, a principal’s office and restroom facilities. The expansion was halted several years ago. This morning Minister Espat cited a letter, from a standard five student, who complained that politics had destroyed the students’ dream, for an improved school.

“That student’s frustration captured in a memorable way the pain and disillusionment of the students, parents and teachers who had been looking forward to much needed extra classroom space. Their cries were ignored, their arguments were shunned, deeds dismissed and their hopes ripped apart. Today though your hopes are alive again. Your hopes are alive because your Freetown Representative is today delivering on a campaign commitment made last year to complete the St. Joseph’s school building.
The school expansion is expected to be completed in time for the new school year in September.
