Griga Fest held in Dangriga
In an effort to raise funds for their new library and showcase many cultural, educational and economic activities of Dangriga, the Town Board held their annual Griga Fest this weekend. The two-day event featured young performers as well as information booths and other attractions. The Prime Minister who opened the event on Friday said the government is working to upgrade the Dangriga police station, expand the educational opportunities and establish a center for employment training. The Prime Minister said, while the Town Board is working hard for all the residents, the residents need to give of their time and energy as well.

“We cannot do it alone. The government will do everything possible to help your town board, and to help you the people of Dangriga. But you must help the Town Board too. And I call on the people of the Stann Creek District, I call on the business community, in particular, I call on those companies who benefit from all that we have been talking about, to help more, help the Town Board, so they can provide a better service to the people of Dangriga.
An essay contest was held as part of the Griga Fest on the theme ” How to Keep Dangriga Clean and Beautiful. Teresita Ramirez of Epworth Methodist won first place.
