Murder on the Guatemala Border
A dispute between two residents of the same village in the Cayo district has led to a stabbing death near the Guatemalan border. Benque Viejo Police says about one thirty Sunday afternoon, fifty years old Jesus Aldana, was crossing the Mopan River near the Water pump area when he was attacked and stabbed in the chest. Aldana died on the bank of the river shortly after the man, identified as Manuel Gobines de Ruiz fled into the bushes. He is still at large. Police say their investigations reveal Aldana and Gobines have had several confrontations before the incident and both live in Buena Vista village.
