Festival of Arts raps up

Story Picture
While there’s a lull in the action tonight, tomorrow night the Bliss will be packed once again with proud parents, teachers and the little brothers and sisters of Belize’s youngest performing artists. From the 3rd to the 5th of June the very best of the Belize District Festival of Arts will be highlighted. And even those of you who are not related to the little stars are invited to bask in their golden glow… if you can get a ticket, that is. Arreini Palacio reports.

Over two weeks of dance, drama and music are drawing to a close as the Belize District Festival of Arts prepares for encore presentations of its golden performances.

According to the Belize Arts Council’s Public Relations Officer, Anita Cheong, the Golden Nights, which will run from Thursday to Saturday, feature the presentation of awards to outstanding performances in several sections.

“In the music section, instrumental and vocal; in the drama section and dance section.”

The performances, which started on May fifteenth, were a little different this year.

“We had two sections, the first section was music from the seventeenth and the second section was dance and drama which was successful. We got 75 golden entries with the most entries from Grace Primary School.”

The Golden Night tickets are five dollars for adults and a dollar for kids. Parents, teachers and friends are urged to attend and cheer on their favorite golden performer.
