Miss Belize comments on pageant in Trinidad

Story Picture
Leading the drug awareness yellow ribbon parade was our very own Miss Belize, Viola Jeffery. Jeffery returned on Saturday after participating in the Miss Universe Pageant in Trinidad last Wednesday. Although she did not win the cash, the title or the crown, Jeffery came back with a wealth of experience and memories.

Viola Jeffery, Miss Belize 1998-99

“I had a lot of fun; I met a lot of people and it was a great experience – learning the ins and outs of pageants – especially a pageant as big as the Miss Universe Pageant. I met a lot of people: different girls from all over the world and just learned about each other’s countries.

I think any girl from Belize can make the top ten, the top five and even Miss Universe. I wish I had been one of them but I was not. I think you just need to go there with a lot of confidence, believe in yourself and go with the attitude that you are going to represent your country as best you can and I think you’ll all come out a winner after that.”

Jeffery will resume her nursing studies at Viterbo University after the Miss Belize Contest in August. Until then she is lending her support to NDACC’s drug education efforts.
