Disabilities Week ends with fun day
The National Stadium hosts a lot of sporting events throughout the year, but none are quite as special as the fun day that was held there today. Arreini Palacio reports.
Disabilities Week wouldn’t be complete without the annual fun day and all its excitement. The sporting event, held at the National Stadium, is sponsored by the Youth Department, the Disabilities Unit and Stella Maris School. According to Stella Maris Principal, Eleanor Castillo, the day is one the children look forward to.

“It helps them to compete with one another and also to realize that there is a day for fun as well as for work. It is the climax of Disabilities Week so it is a way of unwinding.”
Along with the unwinding, were the track and field, sack race and stiff competition in the lime and spoon race.
The children even had a visit from royalty.

“Since I have been out here I have been having loads of fun with the kids.”
The smiles on the faces of the children proved that Disabilities Week ended on a good note. Arreini Palacio for News Five.
Disabilities Week was held under the theme, “Equal Opportunities for All”.
