Shyne Barrow – “Don’t Mistake My Passion for Lack of Humility”
According to Barrow, Deputy Party Leader Hugo Patt is only exercising a constitutional right as a member of parliament. As for his confidence in the delegates’ support, Shyne says that he is humbled.

“The Constitution of Belize gives him that right. He’s not exercising a discretionary right that was given to him by the U.D.P. constitution, he is exercising his constitutional right as an elected member of the House of Representatives to vote for the person who enjoys his confidence and in March, I believe it is, we will have a convention and the five hundred delegates will come out and vote and whoever the five hundred delegates vote for, that is who will be party leader and Leader of the Opposition. They say a day is a lifetime in politics so I am never comfortable, I am never overconfident, but I have conviction and I know that I have been with those people before the recall. I was one of the original members of Caucus for Change, the twenty-one standard bearers and so I have stayed with the people, the fifty-three percent who voted with me that we needed change, we needed reform and I have stayed with them. But, I am never overconfident, I am never comfortable. I deplore hubris and while I am passionate, do not mistake my passion for lack of humility.”
