Arson investigation in P.G.
Police have detained four men in connection with a case of arson in San Miguel Village, Toledo over the weekend. Hubert Cus the owner of the home and vehicle, which were set on fire, told News Five today he believes the incident early Monday morning was prompted by jealousy over the success of his small business. He says the men detained by police, Domingo Ack, Epolito Cal, Cravion Cus and Ricardo Cus have been harassing him and even threatened to kill him. The fire, which began on the seat of his Isuzu pickup truck, completely gutted the truck and spread to his cement house and kitchen which both had thatched roofs. Cus says he managed to wake up his family and get them outside and neighbors arrived to help battle the blaze. Very few household items were saved, however, and Cus estimates the total loss at thirty six thousand dollars. He says he is grateful that his family was not hurt and that his business is in tact, but he feels devastated by the loss of his home and newly acquired truck. Punta Gorda police say they are still investigating and have yet to charge anyone for the incident. They say they cannot speculate on the motive behind the fire at this time.
