Thousands missing from law firm

Two former employees of Barrow and Williams Law Firm were arrested and charged today after over fifty thousand dollars was found missing. France Moguel and Dorla Pickwood were jointly charged with embezzling over nine thousand dollars while Pickwood alone faced the charges for over forty thousand dollars. According to Head of C.I.B. Simeon Alvarez, the investigation continues as there is more evidence mounting against the two.

“What happened was that Mr. Rodwell Williams had come in to report that his bookkeeper Ms. Dorla Pickwood had misappropriated the sum of 52 thousand dollars sometime between ’96 and November of last year. They will be charged with forgery, theft and many other charges.”

Q: “How was France Moguel connected with the case?”

“France Moguel was the messenger of the law firm. What happened was that some of the checks were made out in his name and apparently they worked together. How it went is that she is authorized to release checks after they are signed by Mr. Barrow. After the check was signed for say three hundred dollars, she would place a two in front after it was signed. It was there that the two thousand dollars was shared between them and the three hundred be deposited back to the office.”

Moguel was released on bail while Pickwood will be remanded in custody until trial time.
