P.G. Resident Killed in Accident on Southern Highway
There was also a fatal accident in southern Belize over the weekend. On Saturday morning, police responded to an RTA on the Southern Highway in the Stann Creek District. Mario Sanchez was behind the steering wheel of a black Honda Pilot heading north; Elsworth Lamb was travelling with him on the passenger side. Between miles eleven and twelve, a tow head travelling in the opposite direction collided into the Honda car. Sanchez died on the spot, while Lamb complained of pain and was rushed via ambulance to the Southern Regional Hospital. The tow head was driven by Jasmine Tillett, a resident of Carmelita Village, Orange Walk District. ASP Fitzroy Yearwood says that a notice of intended prosecution has been served on Tillett.

“What we would want to call a cattle head truck actually that was travelling in the opposite direction and driven at the time by Mister Jasmine Tillett. We were made to understand by investigators that the [Honda] Pilot was travelling from the direction of Punta Gorda towards Dangriga Town when the truck collided into it. We also had a passenger that was injured in that accident. He was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital complaining of pain to his body. Unfortunately, Mister Sanchez died on the spot. What the investigators are saying is that the truck collided into the Honda Pilot so far so we are hoping that what was obtained through the statements obtained from the victim and the driver of the truck. I am certain that an NIP has been served and we know that the process is moving properly so we are hoping sometime soon we will have charges.”
