Festival of Arts opens to full house

The Bliss Institute was packed with proud parents and classmates last night as the performing arts section of the Belize District Festival of Arts got underway. The first golden awards went to the Grace Primary Infant Choir and the St. Martin De Porres Choir with silver going to the St. Ignatius Senior Choir and a duet performed by St. Ignatius and Stella Marris School. This week is devoted to vocal and instrumental presentations with the dance and drama performances are next week. Golden Nights, which feature the very best the festival has to offer, begin June 3rd. This year the festival is being sponsored by the Belize City Council with help from numerous businesses who are providing tickets and bus transportation for school children from all over the district.
