Senator Bradley Says There is No Place for Domestic Violence Among Political Leaders or Wider Society
When asked for his views on the narrow vote taken by the U.D.P. party national council over Patrick Faber’s resignation, and if it is surprising that there was only a one vote difference, Darrell Bradley says again, principle-based discussion is needed. He says there is no place for domestic violence, and people in the political sphere must act with the highest integrity and character.
Darrell Bradley, U.D.P. Senator
“I want to be absolutely firm that there is no place for any type of gender based violence in part of society, ever, especially and including people who hold elected office. That is a non-starter. I also want to say that sometimes when people have discussions that they have it on things that are not principle based. You and I have to agree to certain things. For it to be meaningful there has to be a certain framework. When I go into a court there has to be certain rules. When I go into any other kind of activity, there are certain rules, certain commonalities. We have a political system. There is a UDP and a PUP, but there must be certain things that we must agree on. Number one, we must agree that people in the sphere conform to the highest level of integrity. I do not believe that that is an argument. I believe that is something everyone has to ascribe to. This is not just about gender based violence. This has to do with character on a whole.”
