UDP Senator Says People Vision to Rally Behind
As the United Democratic Party struggles to bring stability to its leadership, Senator Darrell Bradley appeared on Open Your Eyes to discuss the type of reform he believes Belizean politics needs. He says there will always be divisiveness because differing views is what politics is all about, and that no one leader can ever achieve total unity. Instead, he says parties need to be principle-based and have a vision for reform that party supporters can support.
Darrell Bradley, U.D.P. Senator
“You want to rally behind a vision, an agenda for integrity, change, reform. And you want to make sure you can convince people. One of the biggest things I did when I was mayor and in the senate was trying to speak. And to convince people about a certain vision because they do not agree. One of the things that I try to do in the United Democratic Party also for those who are close within the party is to chart a certain direction. To say that this is where the party needs to go. We need to have an agenda for reform. We need to be more about challenging some of the things that the government is doing, engaging with the government where it is positive and make it less about personalities and more about issues. More about principles, and I think that when you do that, you are able to capture more people.”
