UNICEF employee loses passport and laptop to thieves
Robbers targeted a 2008 Isuzu D-Max at the parking lot of Friendship Restaurant on the Northern Highway. John Flowers, the owner of the vehicle, was inside the restaurant when the robbers struck and when he returned, his rear passenger window was shattered and his company laptop and case containing his UN passport was missing. Today, the UNICEF employee came to our studios appealing for the equipment to be returned.
John Flowers, Planning and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, UNICEF
“I’m here to make an appeal on two levels; first of all on the individual level who removed the items from my truck to kindly return them. It’s a laptop, a laptop carrying case and some official documents including my official U.N. travel passport. This is the form of passport that we use for work related travel. And beyond pass the breaking into the vehicle, its more the information that is contained on the laptop; it’s years of work and it’s really the tools and information I need to do my work effectively. So I’m appealing to individuals to please return them because it’s really of no value to anyone but myself. They can’t even open the laptop because it’s a high security finger print enabled system. It’s a think pad, its part of a docking station and it’s really a black, small portable ThinkPad laptop with an Intel Celeron processor inside. It’s very, very small; about a foot in square measurement. And as you can see from the photograph, the carrying case is a black nylon carrying case also with the ThinkPad logo on it. The U.N.L.P. is a blue passport size document.”

“How is it that they got into your vehicle?”
John Flowers
“Yes, my vehicle was parked on the Northern Highway at about mile one and a half at Friendship where I had gone to get some food. What happened is they shattered the rear passenger side window and my workbag was still in the truck and so it was removed at that point.”
If you have any information to assist in the return of the stolen items, please call Flowers at 223-3609 or 604-4616. A reward will be given for the return of the items.
