Joint Union Negotiating Team Ready for Meeting with G.O.B.
The joint unions met over the weekend to review documents presented by the government back in January on the state of the economy. The aim is to see if some relief can be given to teachers and public officers who had received a ten percent salary cut and increment freeze in July of last year. Today, News Five caught up with Senator Elena Smith of the B.N.T.U. and asked for an update.

“It was a meeting amongst ourselves to discuss strategies – what will be our position, what will be way going forward. Our meeting would have been tomorrow, but unfortunately because of the situation, it has been postponed to next week. And so when we meet next week, we should be meeting again to finalise or to confirm those positions that we will take into that meeting and then we’ll prepare ourselves for next week Wednesday. So we are hoping for a positive meeting next week and we are hoping to be able to receive maybe confirmation at least or some information so that our teachers and public officers can have some type of relief as it relates to the increment freeze and salary cut.”
