New Climate Resilience Project for Coastal Areas and Fisheries
A new project was launched today for climate resilience in the coastal zone and fisheries. The Ministry of Economic Development, Green Climate Fund, Climate Finance Unit and the Ministry of Blue Economy are all part of the steering committee that met virtually. The goal is to increase resilience in the face of rising temperatures and more frequent and intense tropical storms. This includes the improvement of the data and information systems, an adaptation plan, and priority areas for the fisheries and coastal zones. The duration of the project is eighteen months and the total grant financed by the Green Climate Fund is one point two million Belize dollars.
