No Shows for Hybrid Learning
Back in January, we asked parents if they would be sending their children back to school for hybrid learning. Many of them were sceptical due to concerns over the omicron variant that had been raging. But it would seem that they may have had a change of heart because Education Minister Francis Fonseca says that an insignificant number of parents have chosen not to send their children to school.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
“Very insignificant, very insignificant. We have a few of course in every school you have a few parents who for various reasons are reluctant to send their children back to school. In some cases, there are legitimate reasons where children have underlying conditions or specific medical reasons why and that is taken into account. But that is a very insignificant number of parents who are withholding their children from school. In fact it is quite the opposite; children are eager to get back into the classroom and most parents we find are eager to have their children back in school. They understand the critical importance of having their child in school and what the last eighteen months of being outside of the classroom has meant for those children.”
Of the six hundred and five schools in the country, five hundred and eighty-nine have been approved for hybrid learning. Over ninety percent of that number or five hundred and twenty schools are actually engaged in some form of hybrid learning.
