Highway and city clean-up underway
They began by picking up trash during a massive clean-up campaign on the highways in March and now the Belize Tourism Board and the Belize Waste Control Limited are clearing the roads of old, broken down vehicles. So far the assessment of derelicts on the Western and Northern Highways has resulted in the identification of over a hundred eyesores that will be hauled away by this weekend. While the B.T.B. and Belize Waste Control deal with the highways, the Belize City Council is holding an intensive clean-up campaign in the city. Inmates from Hattieville will assist with cutting grass and the City Council is asking for the help of schools, N.G.O.s and business houses for a Queen’s Square clean-up this Saturday and Sunday.
