P.S.U. President Says Two Increases Would Work Best for Pay Scale Paperwork
P.S.U. President Flowers went on to talk about the implications of an incremental restoration on the public sector’s pay scale system. He is recommending that no more than two installments be made, because every installment will require logistical work to create a new pay scale.
Dean Flowers, President, Public Service Union
“If it was left to me, I would have been interested, because there is some intricacies, if you will. Remember, they used the words “stage” and “gradually,” and every time you tamper with the pay scale–you increase or reduce salaries– you have to create a new pay scale. When you cut a new pay scale, it impacts who pays taxes and who doesn’t pay taxes. The FOs has a little bit more work to do. I wouldn’t subscribe that we do that two and three times during the course of the year. I would want to see that done one and two time and that is it.”

“So, you are saying five percent and five percent?”
Dean Flowers, President, Public Service Union
“That would be great, or a six and a four. I don’t know. But we will see what cabinet decides today. They will then re-engage us and provide us with their decision as it relates to the restoration of that ten percent in the upcoming fiscal year.”
