Plane crash lands in Mountain Pine Ridge
A Maya/Island Air plane crash landed last Friday while trying to find the Blancaneaux airstrip. Two of the passengers were injured. American tourists John and Patricia Metz told News Five this morning that on Friday afternoon they boarded a Maya/Island Air plane at Gallon Jug intended to go to Blancaneaux Lodge in Mountain Pine Ridge, but had the ride of their lives. They said they became concerned when they noticed that they had flown over a dam twice and their pilot admitted he had not flown the route in a long time. They say that when the pilot did find the airstrip he landed so roughly that the plane was damaged and Patricia Metz was injured in the left arm and her body badly bruised. The couple claims their bird watching equipment was also broken upon impact. The couple says that when they reach Miami they will be going to a doctor and from there they will know what action, if any, they will take against the airline company and its pilot. News Five contacted Maya/Island Air and was told the company is aware of the incident, but would not comment on the identity of the pilot or what they will do to compensate their passengers for their physical injuries and equipment damaged. The plane involved was being repaired today.
