18 Dangrigans arrested
While lawmakers look towards regulating gaming in Belize and perhaps even casino gambling in some parts of the country, it’s not legal yet. But eighteen people who already have gambling fever were arrested in Dangriga Thursday afternoon. Although they had not actually started to play any game or won or lost any money, police busted the group. One man and seventeen women found at two different locations were charged with assembling for the purpose of gambling. Today they were taken to Dangriga Magistrate’s Court where they were officially charged and given bail in the amount of one hundred dollars each.
